The digital media company Literally Media acquired the entertainment publisher Den of Geek on Tuesday, a tie-up that broadens its portfolio beyond comedy and internet culture and deepens its coverage of movies, TV, gaming, and comics.
The deal brings a decade-old outlet with deep ties to fan communities into a network of influential internet brands that includes Cracked, Know Your Meme, Cheezburger, and eBaum’s World. The purchase also continues Literally Media’s string of acquisitions; the company most recently acquired Mel Magazine in December 2023.
Terms of the Den of Geek deal were not disclosed, though chief executive Oren Katzeff described the transaction as a seven-figure deal funded through cash and an earn-out.
