CNN is maxed out.
Today, the news network announced that its 24/7 live news stream is ending on HBO Max on Nov. 17. The move comes ahead of CNN launching a new streaming platform in the fall.
“CNN has benefitted tremendously from its two years of offering a live 24/7 feed of news to HBO Max customers,” Alex MacCallum, CNN evp of digital products and services, said in a statement. “We learned from HBO Max’s large base of subscribers what people want and enjoy the most from CNN, and with the launch of our own new streaming subscription offering coming later this fall, we look forward to building off that and growing our audience with this unique, new offering.”
CNN CEO Mark Thompson confirmed the launch of CNN’s streamer during Warner Bros. Discovery’s TV upfront in May.
Though the stream is ending, HBO Max will continue to showcase CNN Originals, including Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
