The latest WhatsApp beta for iOS includes references to a revamped voice player interface, with Liquid Glass elements. Here are the details.

WhatsApp continues refining its Liquid Glass look ahead of a broader release

Last October, WABetaInfo noted that WhatsApp had kicked off what appeared to be a limited rollout of its new interface, adopting Apple’s Liquid Glass visual revamp.

As it turns out, the revamp was actually very limited, as most users still have access to the pre-Liquid Glass interface.

But that doesn’t mean WhatsApp isn’t working to further tweak the app and make it feel even more native to iOS 26.

That’s because, according to the site, the latest beta build of WhatsApp on iOS includes references to a revamped voice notes player, with Liquid Glass elements.

Its floating, translucent style will interface seamlessly with the new design of the app. This means that users will be able to continue listening to voice messages without any visual disruption. This feature will make the revamped playback bar clearer and more consistent with the updated design.

Currently, when the user starts playing a voice note and leaves the chat, the app displays a banner at the top of the interface with basic controls, including a progress bar, a play/pause button, and a button to cancel playback.

WABetaInfo discovered that the latest TestFlight build of WhatsApp includes references to an updated playback bar with Liquid Glass elements, as seen below:

The site notes that the feature is under development, and isn’t available to beta testers. However, it may signal Meta’s commitment to further tweak the app before making the Liquid Glass revamp available to all users.

Do you have access to the Liquid Glass interface on WhatsApp? Let us know in the comments.
