We’ve had some eyebrow-raising smartphone designs this year – and we will have some next year. Did you see yesterday’s leak that showed the Galaxy S26 series dummies? The S26 Edge stood out with a particularly chunky camera island.

CAD-based renders have now hit the web, created by OnLeaks. They confirm the overall design and give precise dimensions: 158.4 x 75.7 x 5.5mm. This is 0.3mm thinner than the current S25 Edge, though it doesn’t account for the camera island.

Said camera island brings the total thickness up to 10.8mm. That’s… a lot. Especially considering that it spans almost the full width of the phone. Why did Samsung go with such an oddball design? We hope to find out through future leaks.

Anyway, back to this leak – it confirms that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will have built-in magnets for full Qi2 support. Of course, the camera island may make things difficult when it comes to designing magnetic snap-on accessories – check out the dummy leak from yesterday for a look at where the circle of magnets is in relation to the camera island.

The display will have a 6.7” diagonal like before, further details about the panel are to be confirmed. Based on that and the similar dimensions to the S25 Edge, the 2026 model should have similar bezels around the screen.

On the plus side, Samsung has reportedly found a way to increase battery capacity over the current Edge, going from 3,900mAh to 4,200mAh. That’s not as much as we might have hoped if this was a Si/C battery, but it may explain why the Galaxy S26 Edge has the shape that it does.

Previously, we saw the Edge run Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (or whatever it is called), which is due to be officially announced soon. Unfortunately, that was the US variant, so we don’t know whether other regions will get a different chipset (we’re thinking of the Exynos 2600, of course). Other changes may include a 50MP ultra-wide camera – a third camera will not be added, despite the XL-sized bump.
