Myriota has expanded its satellite IoT constellation with the successful launch of four additional satellites.

The addition of these four new nanosatellites to Myriota’s UltraLite constellation, in collaboration with space-based data and analytics provider Spire Global, was completed on January 14th as part of SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission.

This latest expansion not only enhances the resilience and overall capacity of Myriota’s existing satellite IoT network but also extends its reach into new and emerging markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and regions across the Middle East.

Myriota will leverage Spire’s satellite platform as it continues to scale its network over the next year. This forms a crucial part of Myriota’s investment strategy aimed at delivering a dependable, low-cost, and low-power IoT network for a wide range of applications.

By combining Spire’s constellation and global operations platform with its own satellite assets, Myriota aims for a rapid and cost-effective scaling of its IoT services to meet increasing global demand.

The Myriota network empowers customers across various industries – such as logistics, utilities, and agriculture – to securely monitor and collect data from anywhere in the world using long-lasting and cost-effective IoT sensors. Currently, Myriota’s technology is being utilised by customers to track, locate, and monitor critical assets, including water tanks, vehicles, wind turbines, shipping containers, and various types of equipment and tools.

Ben Cade, CEO of Myriota, said: “The global market for satellite-based communications networks is seeing an explosion in technical breakthroughs and network expansions. We are excited to be at the forefront of that, with an ultra low power and highly secure IoT connectivity service that is already in widespread commercial use.

“Myriota is delivering high-value services to a range of vertical markets and use cases today, and our continued investment in growing our constellation and expanding the capability of our technology will see us serving even more customers and partners globally.”

Myriota announced a $32 million funding round in late December 2024. This funding was spearheaded by the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) and venture capital partners Main Sequence, with additional support from other investors, including Inter Valley Ventures.

The newly secured capital will be deployed to accelerate the digitisation of field-based industries on a global scale, with a particular focus on enhancing IoT capabilities in regions like the Middle East.

Myriota has already made strides in the Middle East, recently completing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) Sandbox program. The collaboration with CST, the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), and system integrator Giza Systems saw Myriota deploy a robust communications network for water metering in remote locations on behalf of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
