  • Community members voice a lot of opinions, some of them genuine and some of which are very subjective, so it will be a challenge for OnePlus to filter and seek out the most genuine suggestions.
  • This new program will give the OnePlus community members not only the opportunity to voice thier opinions or frustrations but also to work with the developing team to find solutions to the said problems.
  • The tagline is Co-creation and rightly so, but to what limits are we going to sit in every developer’s meet, or will we be working on specific segments of the OS.

OnePlus has launched their O2 initiative, which is a leap to advance thier community relations and mine feedback around thier proprietary Android skin Oxygen OS. This new program will give the OnePlus community members not only the opportunity to voice thier opinions or frustrations but also to work with the developing team to find solutions to the said problems. The promise made by OnePlus through this initiative is to co-create the future of Oxygen OS. So in this article, we will discuss everything this program has to offer and how you can become a member of the “Private Circle”.

Project O2 OnePlus

What is OnePlus Project O2?

The tagline is Co-creation and rightly so, but to what limits are we going to sit in every developer’s meet, or will we be working on specific segments of the OS? Community members voice a lot of opinions, some of them genuine and some of which are very subjective, so it will be a challenge for OnePlus to filter and seek out the most genuine suggestions.

Co-creation text

Some of the seats would be reserved for the community veterans and leaders. If you are someone who has not joined the community and would like to join the O2 program directly, you can do so as well. Simply have to fill out some details, and then you can apply for the same.

Expectations from a Member

You are expected to share your honest review of the Oxygen OS features, ideas, and user experience. If you are interacting with Oxygen OS, let the team know how they can make the interaction better, faster, and more optimized. Furthermore, you get benefits that trump the regular benefits that any community member enjoys. We have listed them below.

  • As an O2 program member, you will be getting early hands-on of newer versions of the Oxygen OS much before the public releases.
  • You will also get to test out features in thier beta stage and also share your experience and feedback with the developing team.
  • There is a possibility of getting hardware devices to test for user experience.
  • You will gain access to private chats and groups after being selected for the core team. You will have access to private groups and discussion panels that are not shared with regular members.

Is this the right step?

In my opinion, this is a step towards building a much stronger community, compared to other brands. Though the development and feedback part is not that easy to figure out. Yes, you can get feedback from real users via this program and a bit more, but to what extent the brand will include these members in the developmental cycle is still unclear. So if you are a tech nerd and love the Oxygen OS and have inputs about it, you should definitely apply for the O2 program.
