During a recent appearance at the Newport Beach TV Fest, Shrinking star and co-creator Jason Segel (Over Your Dead Body) shared a welcome update on the show’s next season. Here are the details.
Season 4 filming now underway
Earlier this week, Apple TV’s Shrinking won the Newport Beach TV Festival Outstanding Comedy Ensemble Award.
Following a panel featuring cast members Ted McGinley (Do You Believe?), Michael Urie (Swan Song), Jason Segel, Jessica Williams (Booksmart), Lukita Maxwell (Afraid), and Luke Tennie (The Pitt), the group spoke with Deadline about the show’s impact, success, and future.
According to Deadline, Jason Segel shared that they “started filming about a week and a half ago, two weeks ago,” confirming the timeline Harrison Ford had recently shared.
Shrinking wrapped up its third season in April, just days after Apple TV renewed the show for a surprise fourth season. The series was originally expected to follow a three-season arc, but like Ted Lasso, it ultimately received a renewal beyond its planned ending.
In Shrinking’s case, that means at least 12 additional episodes and a new chapter for the story.
With filming for season 4 already underway, fans likely won’t have to wait quite that long for the show’s return.
As my colleague Ryan Christoffel recently pointed out, Shrinking isn’t a post-production-heavy show, which could help pave the way for an early 2027 premiere.
