Porsche Centre Oman and Shell Oman have announced a landmark agreement aimed at significantly accelerating the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the Sultanate. The partnership includes ambitious plans to install over 130 chargers by the end of 2026.

As reported by Gulf News, the collaboration will involve the installation of at least eight high-performance DC charging stations, co-branded by Porsche and Shell, primarily located at Shell service stations. This strategic placement ensures that EV users will have convenient access to charging facilities. Additionally, 125 AC Porsche Destination Chargers will be installed at key locations nationwide, providing further reassurance about the practicality of electric vehicle (EV) ownership.

Significant Investment in Oman’s EV Infrastructure by Porsche and Shell

Starting in June 2025, Porsche EV customers in Oman will receive a complimentary two-year subscription to Porsche’s fast-charging network. This perk includes up to 2,250 kilowatt-hours of free charging at all Porsche-branded DC (direct current) charging sites.

After the initial two years, owners can continue to use the service at preferential rates. And, as always, access to all AC (alternating current) Porsche Destination Chargers will remain free for Porsche owners.

Samir Abdul Rasool Qassim Al Zadjali, CEO of Porsche Centre Oman, said, “This partnership with Shell Oman marks a significant step in our drive towards a more sustainable future. He expressed, “We are proud to support Oman’s electromobility goals by creating a high-performance charging ecosystem that meets the needs of modern drivers.”

Shell Oman is also enthusiastic about this collaboration, underscoring the vital role of cross-sector teamwork in driving Oman’s green transition.

According to Burair Al Lawati, General Manager – Strategy & Energy Transition at Shell Oman, “This is a milestone in delivering reliable and scalable EV charging solutions across Oman.”

Some of the new chargers are already operational. Both companies confirmed that further joint efforts will include public awareness campaigns, such as educational workshops and community events, as well as digital tools, including a dedicated EV charging app, to encourage EV adoption in Oman.

Impact and Vision for Oman

This initiative directly supports Oman’s long-term sustainability goals, aiming to significantly advance cleaner transport alternatives. For Porsche customers, it promises greater convenience and peace of mind regarding their electric vehicle (EV) charging needs, while also fostering a sense of optimism about the future of sustainable mobility in Oman.

The partnership between Porsche and Shell is more than just a collaboration; it represents a significant investment in Oman’s electric vehicle infrastructure. It also serves as a prime example of how automakers and energy providers can effectively join forces to build a practical and forward-looking mobility network for the future.
