Garmin is getting in on the screenless fitness band trend this week. The company highlights its strong wellness capabilities, and they’re all possible without a subscription.
Early this morning (July 21), Garmin announced in a press release that its first screenless fitness band, the CIRQA, is available now for $199. As we’ve already said, the CIRQA is screenless, and Garmin says it’s the device’s “inconspicuous design” that helps “minimize distractions while tracking important health and performance metrics.” The band will automatically detect and record a multitude of activities.
While the expected metrics will be recorded (steps, calories burned, etc.), Garmin says the CIRQA can track more than 80 activities, such as running, walking, and yoga. What’s more, users can “select a favorite activity to track by simply tapping the single side button.” Garmin is giving the CIRQA band additional strength to handle “advanced training.” The band will help inform users if they should push themselves or take a rest day.
It will provide HRV status, VO2 Max, and more for insights about your training effectiveness. Understanding your recovery time is another aspect of the band’s fitness assistance. For users going on runs or long walks, the CIRQA supports GPS when connected to a compatible Android or iPhone.
All about your health
Health monitoring—all-day, especially—is where Garmin takes us next. Important metrics, such as “wrist-based heart rate, Body Battery energy monitoring, Pulse Ox2, stress, and skin temperature,” are available with the CIRQA. For women’s health, Garmin says users will find menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking. Each provides enhanced insight into period predictions and past ovulation estimates by using skin temperature readings while sleeping.
For all users, sleep data the fitness band has captured provides a detailed look into their sleep stages, sleep score, heart rate variability, respiration, and nap detection. Every captured statistic is available to users to view in the Garmin Connect app.
We mentioned this before, but the health and fitness features the CIRQA can provide are available to consumers without a subscription. Garmin’s vice president of consumer sales and marketing, Susan Lyman, said, “Plus, with no subscription required, CIRQA Smart Band helps you stay on top of your health and fitness goals—and makes a thoughtful gift for others who want to do the same.”
The CIRQA fitness band has been designed with all-day comfort in mind. Garmin highlights its fabric material and “fun, neutral colors.” The band is available in Citron Gray, Mauve, French Gray, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue, and black. Consumers can wear the CIRQA on their wrist or as an armband.
Once again, Garmin states the CIRQA fitness band is available for $199. Its store listing says consumers can begin purchasing it on July 24.
