I love a good science fiction film, and 2016’s Passengers is a movie that scratches that sci-fi itch of mine each and every time I watch it. Directed by Morten Tyldum, Passengers stars Jennifer Lawrence as Aurora Lane and Chris Pratt as Jim Preston.

After an asteroid collision causes a hibernation pod malfunction, the pair must contend with the fact that they’ve awoken ninety years ahead of schedule. The two are essentially stranded on a ship hurling through space, having to deal with the various ramifications of their isolation from the rest of humanity.

With ongoing chemistry forming between the protagonists, and with high-budget cinematography and big-name actors on deck, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into with Passengers. The film received somewhat mixed reviews upon release, but it was a commercial success, grossing 303.1 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).

If you’ve never watched Passengers, or if you’d simply like to rewatch the movie for a second (or perhaps a third) time, then you’re in luck: Tubi is bringing the sci-fi hit to its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service starting June 1 of this year.

Passengers will be available on Tubi beginning June 1

No need to dish out any cash to watch this sci-fi classic

As ever with Tubi, there’s a rotating list of free content available on the service that changes over time. As part of June’s upcoming movie selection, Passenger will be free to watch directly on the streamer. The only caveat here is that you’ll have to deal with advertisements, which is a small sacrifice to make in exchange for free access to one of 2016’s highest profile feature films.

Passengers will be available for free on Tubi specifically in the United States — depending on your region of residence, the film may or may not be available to stream on the service. This discrepancy is in part due to geographically-dependent licensing agreements, among other factors.

If you’d rather skip the ads altogether, you can also opt to purchase or rent Passengers from a variety of online sources, including YouTube, Movies on Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Apple TV, and CraveTV. Of course, you can also snag a physical copy of the movie on Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from Amazon or other retailers.

In addition to Passengers, a number of other well-known and critically acclaimed feature films are making their way to Tubi starting on June 1. Some highlights include:

  • Fast & Furious 6
  • The Fault In Our Stars
  • Straight Outta Compton
  • Need For Speed
  • Space Jam
  • The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
  • Ben-Hur
