Tuya Smart has integrated the latest large model from Mistral AI into its Cloud Developer Platform to boost hardware development.
Tuya aims to harness the impressive speed, open-source framework, and advanced capabilities of Mistral AI’s model to empower developers while catering to Europe’s stringent requirements around data security and regulatory compliance.
Le Chat, a chatbot by Mistral AI, became a talking point this month after claiming the top spot on France’s free app charts after its debut. This achievement not only disrupted the chatbot landscape but also solidified Mistral AI as a key player.
The app’s technical benchmarks have quickly drawn attention from both users and developers. By processing 1,100 tokens per second (approximately 1,000 words), Le Chat is 13 times faster than ChatGPT, OpenAI’s flagship model. Adding to its arsenal, Le Chat boasts advanced image-generation capabilities that outpace DALL·E.
The unveiling of the latest version of Le Chat during the AI Action Summit this week served as a rallying moment for European AI, putting the continent firmly on the global stage as a serious challenger in the AI race.

By incorporating Mistral AI into its cloud platform, Tuya is addressing two critical challenges in the European AI domain: data security and the growing demand for innovative AI hardware solutions.
Data security, in particular, remains a top priority across Europe. As Tuya highlights, 73% of European consumers reject AI applications that involve cross-border data transmission, according to recent McKinsey reports.
Public concerns around privacy were formally addressed when the EU passed the world’s most comprehensive AI legislation, introducing stringent requirements for deployments. With these regulations in mind, Tuya prioritises full compliance with frameworks such as the EU AI Act.
The integration of Mistral AI’s technology ensures that data collected, stored, and processed remains localised within European boundaries.
