San Diego’s $7.2 Billion Cleantech Economy Supports More than 25,000 Jobs
A new report conducted by the San Diego Regional EDC on behalf of Cleantech San Diego shows the San Diego region’s cleantech and solar industries are growing – with employment rates, average earnings, and overall economic activity all up significantly. This most recent analysis, which is based on activity from 2024 employment estimates, shows that the cleantech industry employs more than 12,000 people and has a $7.2 billion economic impact on the San Diego region, an 11% increase over the previous year. Solar installers alone employ more than 9,800 people and have a $3.3 billion impact on the region’s economy. The report also finds that there are 924 payrolled cleantech business locations in the region and average annual earnings of $132,646 per cleantech job.
