Amazon’s October Prime Day event has brought in a ton of deals, and these discounts are not just on the expensive big-ticket items. If you’ve been looking to pick up a pair of smart XR/AR glasses, now is a good time. VR headsets are typically chunky, heavy, expensive and can have limited compatibility, but the new crop of XR/AR glasses changes that. Viture has squeezed all of the good bits into a package the size of a pair of sunglasses with its Viture Pro XR/AR glasses, and they’re now only $299 for Amazon Prime Day. That’s $200 off the normal retail price of $500. Hurry up, though, because we’re now in the final hours of this Prime Day event, so deals are bound to run out soon.

The deal works like most other Amazon Prime Day deals, but this one is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. If you have a membership, simply add the Viture Pro XR/AR glasses to your cart and checkout.

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

CNET’s smart glasses expert, Scott Stein, names the newer Viture model — the Viture Luma Pro — as the brightest and highest resolution gaming glasses out there. This model that’s on sale, is the last generation. But Stein says “it could still impress if on sale at the right price.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg. They connect to virtually anything with an HDMI cable, including game consoles. Thus, you can hook your Xbox Series X up to these things and game through them while sitting on the couch with no TV required. They even work with the Nintendo Switch 2 over USB-C.

According to CNET video producer and hardware expert Sean Booker, the glasses have two 1080p micro-OLED displays that feature a 120Hz refresh rate, and they get bright enough to make “everything look super clear in any settings, indoors and out.” Despite their size, the displays are large enough to allow you to see small text. That means you can game or work with these things if you want.

You can lay down in bed or on the couch and play with the Viture Pro on your face, giving you the kind of freedom of positioning you simply don’t get with a TV or a computer monitor. If you’re looking for bigger screens, however, check out the best Prime Day TV deals we’ve found.

Time is running out. Sign up for CNET Deals texts to get last-minute deals. They’re quick, free, and easy.

XR and AR glasses are somewhat new but our experts rounded up the best smart glasses available right now. You can also check out our best VR headsets.

Why this deal matters

The whole XR/AR thing is new and exciting, and for someone who gets motion sick like I do, it’s a viable way to try out mixed reality without suffering through a VR-induced stomachache. This deal is a good chance to grab these Viture Pro AR glasses for a discounted price. It’s $200 in savings and it’s possible that you may not get the same deal later in the holiday shopping season.
